Chirac's relationship with Saddam goes way back. I saw a photo today of Chirac and Saddam chumming it up in 1974. It makes me wonder if Saddam has something on Chirac, something Chirac doesn't want his constituents, perhaps the world, to know about. But maybe despots are just his style, seeing as he was doing the ritz with Mugabe a couple of weeks ago.
