Interesting observation John, unfortunately, by completely ignoring the issue it lends credence to a remark which may be a total falsehood.

Just for argument sake, let's say I posted something along these lines...

"What disturbs me is the posting by people I've called my friends on SI, who write about not caring for the suffering millions in Iraq, for those stuck in torture chambers, for the tens of thousands of Kurds who were gassed by Hussien, or for the thousands of rape victims personally sanctioned by Saddam to keep the population subservient.

Perhaps, many of them have never witnessed genocide on a human scale before, perhaps they've never held the hand of rape victim, or seen the longing of hope and freedom in the eyes of those chained behind a fascist dictator. Well, some of us have, and we remember all too well the screams of prisoners, and the blood pouring down the streets of those giving up their lives longing to be free."

I gather you get my point. I offer no evidence, and the story may be a complete fabrication on my part.

Having said that, I don't believe Steven made up the claims he spoke of, but, I would like to see where he got those impressions from. Because, from the posts I've read here (granted not all of them), I've never seen (one) post which could be construed in the way he stated.
