Worst is over for slumping Internet infrastructure market Semiconductor Business News (03/14/03 11:46 a.m. EST) CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J. - The global Internet infrastructure market took a hard hit in 2002, but there's signs of a recovery--albeit a slow one, according to a report from Probe Research here. In the report, Probe forecast that the market is expected to grow 92% between 2002 and 2006. Probe analyst Richard Endersby believes that the worst of the decline is over in the arena. "While capex is expected to be down in 2002, stability over the next couple of years is more likely than further reductions," he said. "Although the capex/revenue ratio will fall throughout the next decade, we do expect to see some recovery by the end of our forecast period." Promising signs include the "coming of age" of Ethernet in the public network. MPLS standardization does at last appear to be bearing some revenue-generating fruit.
