misheldo - the moderns Turkish army was FOR supporting the US the Islamic Turkish Party is against supporting the US except for a very steep price. During the cold war with the USSR the Turks welcomed the US protection from neighboring countries supported by the communists like Syria & Iraq. There is very little known on those lands about the explosive nature of those artificial borders between Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and former USSR states. That region is claimed by 3 to 5 additional nations who presently do not have a homeland. Kurds, Armenians, Assyrian, Zoartians to mention a few. The Israeli - Arab conflict will pale relative to the rivalries on the old silk road or between the Caucas / Caspian Sea , Anatolia, Babylon, Arab Peninsula and Mediterranean Sea .......
