Bush's poll numbers are not on the upswing at all.
Where do you get that? People may support the troops once they're over there about to fight. I do too. But doesn't mean they support Bush.

Even Bush supporters are getting very nervous about him now. The GOP moderate wing is splitting from Bush. So is the traditional conservative wing. So is anyone who's not neo-conservative with a brain. Last poll showed Bush losing to an "unnamed Democrat". That's hardly an upswing. Even Bush's support is 1.3 very soft and fragile. Those voters may well bolt from Bush in 2004. It will be the economy, stupid.
