I thought of Europe as more of an industrial complex rather than food grower. I think Canada, US, Asutralia, former USSR are major food producers. I suppose some of the Central European countries may grow food but not necessarily on the level here in NA. The flip side could be that they have to import more food, weakening their currency and making US dollar still stronger - depressing gold rally. Gold will probably rally if the US markets go down.
