A senior U.S. official said Washington has now retracted its offer to give Turkey $15 billion in economic aid if it allowed the U.S. deployment. "The package was time-bound and we have moved on time-wise," the official said on condition of anonymity. No brainer.... And big mistake on their part.. But Turkey is a democracy (young it may be), so that's okay... The importance of meeting in the Azores is to emphasize the fact that Europe represents more than just France and Germany... Spain and Portugal are behind US actions, if only to counter the domination of the EU by France and Germany. Hawk
