impeccable timing, wouldn't you say?

Given mid-level CIA analysts have complained that there's been pressure from the top to "cook the books," in order to show such a connection; given the US is now taking credit for capturing an Al Qaeder operative they already took credit for killing; given a mid-level British Intelligence officer has been arrested for leaking information about the US spying on the UN Security Council members' homes and offices; given there's absolutely no evidence of an Iraqi nuclear program and that what was said to be evidence is now proven fabricated; and given much, much more--I'd have to say, wolf has been cried once too often.

From a political standpoint, Bush is going to want as much poll opinion support as possible before he pulls the trigger. And this supposed connection is a perfect way to do this. Again, impeccable timing, wouldn't you say?
