It really highlights the differences between Bush1 & Bush2. For or against the war, it is vitally in the longterm interests of the US to respect diplomacy.

Bush1 clearly understood this, His war was easier to sell, but his salesmen were 100X better than the current cast of Neocons(Powell's frustration with them also showing). Bush1 understood the longterm importance of our allies. The Europeans also disliked him, but his crew made them feel part of the world.

Bush2 just deficates on our allies unless they are 100% with the US program. I would bet that deep down, most of Bush1's cabinet has disgust for Bush2. IMHO.
