I am a very strong proponent of clean and healthy oceans and aquatic life. I know from first-hand experience how quickly a pristine ocean environment can be polluted and over-fished into barren, aquatic emptiness. It is one of the saddest most wasteful things man has ever done to this planet, it continues to happen every day and it directly threatens the survival of human beings, not just in the future but now.

Thank God for strong champions of the ocean like John Kerry and Barbara Boxer. Bushies on the other hand, just dont seem to care. It's one of the most frustrating things about the far right, they just dont get it. All our wars, armies and dollars cannot buy a clean environment or bring back vanished species and pristine waters.

Most critical of all are the severely depleted fish populations humans depend on for part of our survival.

Dolphins and whales are very special creatures deserving the same protections we give bald eagles. They are also canaries in the coal mine. When they go, part of us dies with them. And our extinction may not be far behind.
