~OT~...<<..."The war of misinformation has begun"...>>
Tim/wstera_02: I feel I must clarify a few things...
-you seem to be compelled to attack me...recently, close to half of your posts on this thread do just that -- I guess 'that says volumes about you as a person'....Have you seen me attack ANYONE on this thread? It's not my style...I'm a collaborator -- we need to learn, share AND at times agree to disagree...If necessary you can use the ignore key on some of my posts.
-you claim that I repeat lies and distortions and have some type of agenda --> nothing could be further from the truth...Notice that many of the things I post are often from major media outlets that are highly regarded (like The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, Newsweek, The New Yorker, etc)...These organizations have very high standards and don't print things that are full of lies...At times they may have a columnist that writes a column you don't agree with BUT that's life. I have posted more in the last few months as I have 2 close friends in Kuwait (one is a Ranger and the other is a Marine)...I support our troops 100% BUT I have serious concerns about country's leadership and this irrational 'rush to war'...I'm not the only one with this view --> many Congressmen, religious leaders, writers, diplomats and citizens are NOT convinced it makes sense to go to war with Iraq right now. In this country we have the right to speak out -- I was in downtown Chicago yesterday and we had thousands of folks from all walks of life protest a possible war with Iraq...there's nothing wrong with that.
-you have made claims that I post 24/7 but that's not true --> if that was the case this thread would have well over 100,000 posts by now...;-) Just this weekend besides posting on Silicon Investor I have played tennis with a business partner, participated in a rally downtown, gone out for dinner, saw the movie 'The Hunted', went to church, and worked for several hours. Coming out of graduate school I was fortunate to work in business development for the President and CEO of a publicly traded media firm (MDP on the NYSE) -- I helped build partnerships with competitors, form alliances with powerful tech companies like Microsoft, and assist with strategic planning and acquisition analysis...I got to see how a very effective CEO operated in many tough situations...We hit our numbers every quarter I was there and my boss did it in a way so that all stakeholders respected the way he chose to lead...After 3 years at Meredith Corporation I got pulled away into the tech world by a headhunter -- this was as 'the boom period' was in high gear...I went to work directing strategic alliances for a contract management software firm...Eventually, I went out on my own as an independent business development consultant and I now help young technology firms commercialize their early products and close deals with customers...There are 'no shifts' that I need to work and its really up to me to manage my time and deliver results for my clients -- that's the way I get paid...I am close to closing my third six figure software licensing deal (within the last 18 months)...that's not bad when you consider how long the sales cycles are since large corporate customers are very cautious. I've also had time to do other things besides work (like volunteer with a local soup kitchen and join the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations)...I do much MORE than just camp out online...I guess what I'm saying is don't just rush to judge someone...There are A LOT of great folks out here on SI BUT the only one on this thread who has ever met me in person is Scott Mantz (we had dinner and a few beers together out in Seattle)...Now, he's in a better position to critique me...Yet, you don't see him doing that.
-remember, just because I post something out here does not mean I agree with 100% of it - but I may want to put it out here anyway...I have received a lot of private messages from folks that like this thread and enjoy reading many of my posts...My posting will go in spurts and cover a lot of topics...I think we would all be better off if we got rid of the personal attacks and just shared, collaborated and debated whatever we are interested in...Anything goes on this thread...You don't have to agree with my posts...If you want to you can ignore me or start a whole new thread that has a tighter focus...We seem to be questioning what's going on in the world around us out here in 'the asylum'...Last time I checked there was nothing wrong with doing that.
Anyway, hopefully you have a little better understanding of where I'm coming from.
regards,
-s2/Scott |
