Hi JDN:
Well, that is exactly the problem. To arbitrarily decide that nation A is the threat while nation B may be a bigger threat makes the whole world confused and afraid. Then, to choose to go it virtually alone, while pissing off a bunch of nations in the process of 'diplomacy', causes the rest of the world to view US as the enemy.

For example, diplomats in Turkey were deeply offended by our diplomatic strong-arming and bumbling. The result? No help from Turkey, making it harder for our troops, and probably resulting in more danger and casualties. The Bush lack of diplomatic capability puts our troops in unnecessary additional danger.

God knows where we'd be if not for Powell and Rice. I can only imagine what trouble we'd be in if Rumsfeld was Sec of State. Hey, how about Rumsfeld as Sec of State, and Ashcroft as Sec of Defense? There's a combo that's sure to touch off Armageddon...
