The war is neccessary to oust Saddam, simple as that. He has evaded the meaning behind the sanctions all these years and made a mockery of the UN doing so. You can say that it was our fault for him being there and some of that criticism is probably correct, but their were certainly other countries involved also. But all past mistakes aside we are still left with a challange here. The UN route is getting nowhere. Sure there has been some progress with the troops stationed next door but Saddam is still saying "It is ok to be a ruthless dictator if you can gain enough support". I truly feel action is neccessary and not doing anything would undermine future efforts to bring stability and peace to the region. This argument should had been made BEFORE we moved the troops in position. I feel it is counterproductive now. It undermines the usefulness of the "Threat of War". And that is more useful then war itself.
