incorrect

Linux is targeted at the "middle tier" which is the new app server area. It is only one component of the 3-tier model, the third tier with most of the business logic, and reporting still resides on unix. Thats why the golden masters are released on HP (used to be Sun) and not Linux for the application suite.

The middle tier is a high growth area, don't get me wrong but nobody is porting their Oracle ERP suite 11i to Linux, I can assure you of that.

And since the app server and 3-tier model is essentially turning every installation into a giant webapp, the transaction volume at the backend is increasing.
