Worthy and honorable cause, although; the finger of blame you point is a bit unqualified.

...should have been the important second prong of Bush's strategy in response to 9/11. But you know what? He has chosen to stand "idly by."

I do not think the US is standing idly by. We have watched (not idly) as shipments of US grain have been held up by corrupt despots to rot in port. But, one does not replace the other. Preventive medicine is a far better approach to building a healthy society than trying to cure all the ailments in the world. Both are important.

It is far easier to ignor honorable efforts of those willing to take a stand than to take a stand of your own and act with bravery and fortitude. When there are many small fires we attack them as we can get to them with the resources available. It is far more beneficial when each of us steps up to help where we are able than it is for some of us to stand behind those doing the work and quibble about which fires are not being attended to.

"...in order to help cure conditions which breed oppression and slavery, disease and famine, deprivation of water and the destruction of environmental resources and the need for economic self-determination."

You got a cure?...I am all eyes and ears!!!

You will be curing my cynicism in the process.
