I especially liked the historical context in the Zakaria article in regard to "balance of power" issues. It's part of a good reply to "why do they hate us?" To some extent, it goes with the territory of being the most powerful country in the world with no counterweight. The uncertainty now is making things worse...the power and influence shifts in the Middle East could be tectonic.
