Sponsor a surrendering soldier and make yourself feel good

Donate Surrender Flags To Needy Iraqis

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- If the impending war with Iraq goes as George W. Bush plans, there will be a terrible shortage of surrender flags in that country.
A New York-based novelty company is trying to fill the void by sending hundreds of tattered white flags to Iraq for the locals to use in case they're attacked -- and you can help.

David Garland of Slycraft Novelties says the so-called "Shoot For World Peace" program is modeled on Save The Children: Folks who pay $10 get a certificate of their good deed and the good feeling of helping a human being in need.

Garland says "surrender sponsors" may even get a picture of their chosen Iraqi waving the white flag but admits "that's pending his or her availability for the photo shoot."

The first shipment of flags is being sent later this week and Garland says it's addressed to Saddam Hussein's presidential palace in Baghdad.

No word on if Hussein will open the package himself but Garland says he'd "like to see to the look on his face."
