the struggle for world democracy

As if the U.S. has been engaged in a struggle for world democracy over the past 50 years? Sure, the U.S. has been instramental in the overthrow of Communism and the establishment of democracy in Eastern Europe. But, there are plenty of examples in which the U.S. overthrew democractically elected governments and replaced them with brutal dictators: Shah of Iran, Pinochet in Chile, Guatemala, Greece, etc. I think the U.S. is amoral when it comes to democracy. We support democracy when it benefits us to do so, but we also destroy democracy when it benefits us to do so. Amoral. Hell, democracy hardly even exists on the federal level in our country anymore. It's all brought and paid for by the very wealthy and powerful. The people hardly have a voice in our federal government anymore. How about a declaration of war for this latest U.S. war adventure? Why not? The Constitution says the Congress has the power to declare war, not the President.
