"If I had had the option to give back the $300 I received from the gov't in 2001, I would have. Or better yet you could have just cut the check up and then the government would have a PLUS balance error on their records in the amount of $300. You could also donate the $300 to National Parks, etc. Make your move... put your money where your mouth is. After you do this please post a compy of your cancelled check!
