Ari Fleischer just this morning said that everyone is entitled to express his opinion.


William, haven't typed with you before, at least I don't remember doing so. Welcome.

That comment of Fleischer's strikes me as pretty common. Generally, it comes after some other comment which means that criticism of Bush is unpatriotic (my term, Fleischer has some different ones). Then a hurried check of terms and he offers something on the order of "everyone is entitled to express his opinion."

I heard Warner, lost his first name in some dead memory cell, the Senator from Virginia last night, do that trick, talking about Daschle's comment.

We know why they do it; they think it gives them political mileage. But it certainly coarsens the political debates. Why not just say they disagree and move on.
