Obstacle to democracy maybe. Not really against Capitalism and Technology. And in terms of democracy, Saddam probably probably agrees with your arguement about needing stability in Iraq. As long as he is the one providing the stability.

It will take time for trust to emerge in Iraq and the first implementation of the C/D/T system may be uniquely Arabic and difficult for us to recognize. >
