Just saw this on LostDude's thread:

Singer hits dire straits
March 19, 2003

FORMER Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler was rushed to
hospital yesterday after a motorbike accident.

The 53-year-old singer and guitarist was taken by ambulance
to St Thomas Hospital, central London, where he was treated
for a broken collar bone and six broken ribs.

A hospital spokeswoman said he was in a stable condition
and had been discharged from the hospital.

Knopfler was riding a Honda motorcycle when he was involved
in a collision with a Fiat Punto car in London's smart
Belgravia district in mid-morning traffic.

By coincidence...
Just this weekend I made myself a few CD's of his stuff to
take with me in the car. I love the sound of his guitar
and really dig his voice.

He's got a lot of great solo stuff and compilations with
other famous folks. He did some good stuff with Chet
Atkins. It's fun listening to those two play off each
other.
