Making France a target for invective is the easy thing to do...for blind parrots December 17, 2002 Germany Iraq's #1 Weapons Supplier? Deutsche Welle is reporting on a story from the "Berlin-based left-wing paper" Tageszeitung which apparently got it's hands on the Iraqi WMD declaration to the United Nations. According to the report Germany has been the number one weapons supplier to Iraq for a number of years -- up to and through 2001. The report, according to Tageszeitung, names eighty German entities who transferred knowledge, components, substances and "even entire technical facilities for the development of atomic, chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction to Iraq since 1975." The paper reports that the dossier contains several indications of cases, where German authorities right up to the Finance Ministry tolerated the illegal arms cooperation and also promoted to it to an extent.
