But you can be sure that if the U.S. destroyed or even defiled a mosque, the reaction in the Muslim world would be no different from our reaction to an attack on the National Cathedral or the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington.

Furthermore, any damage to the Grand Mosque in Baghdad, which is considered one of the most significant architectural gems in the world, would generate extreme criticism even from our closest allies. This whole military approach is stupid, unncessary, and costly--far more costly than the mere movement of manpower and equipment, and far more lengthy than just a couple of weeks. The present administration displays extreme myopia, and so do its supporters.
