I am trying to buy the shares. If you compare mrkt cap per oz new gold is a steal. The buy out war over Santa Fe (GLD) by Newmont and Homestake was due to how the market values various companies gold reserves and resources. NGLD's at $1 1/2 /share is about $50 oz.
HM,NEM, or ABX gold valuation is about $200 oz. The reason why HM and NEM fought over Sante Fe is that by buying GLD, the winner would have the purchased oz revalued at the aquirors gold valuations. So, the shares could go to $6/sh to make a $200 oz valuation. Any price less than that would be profitable to the buyer. ABX's Peter Munk said that he is looking to aquire reserves. ABX is big in Nevada where NGLD also has its properties.
