Fifteen Iraqi soldiers surrender

March 19 2003 at 08:10PM

In the northern Kuwaiti desert - Fifteen Iraqi soldiers crossed the border into Kuwait on Wednesday and surrendered to American troops, a United States officer here said.

The 15 were handed over to Kuwaiti police after laying down their arms and giving up, said Captain Darrin Theriault, headquarters company commander of the First Brigade of the US Army's Third Infantry Division.

The surrenders came amid a 48-hour ultimatum given by American President George Bush to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to leave his country by early Thursday or face a massive attack. - Sapa-AFP
