You might ask the Afghanistans, or Kuwaitis, or Kosovars, or Japanese, or Germans, or South Koreans how they feel about long term presence of US forces in their countries.

I'm not talking about presence of US forces. What I was referring to is the establishment of US military government in Iraq. Governing Iraq for a few months would probably be O.K. for most Iraqis. Longer than that (5 or more years according to some news media) and gratitude could turn into resentment.

If you are wary of a America's presence in Iraq, then you have not noticed or appreciated America's sacrifices for other nations.
I don't see how one leads to the other.

Would you have rather Iraq had been taken over by the USSR?
The USSR ceased to exist a number of years ago.
