What you don't understand, and will never believe, is that they would go berserk if a Republican President acted like that and got caught at it. And demand that he resign and the VP take over.


No, I don't believe it either LB. It would look a bit more excusable coming from a Republican, except to a few principled Christians.

It's speculation, but I don't believe a purely personal behavior scandal is enough to become a major scandal unless that President is deeply loathed by the opposition. In fact, I think it's true for all presidential scandals. The loathing is a necessary ingredient. Nixon had it. So did Clinton. Reagan did not, which was why Iran-Contra never quite turned into a first rate scandal, though the charge - running US foreign policy via a NSC slush fund without Congressional approval - was clearly an impeachable offence.
