It gets an average of about 35 MPG, not 40 MPG. It's 40 MPG city, and 29 MPG highway. One strange thing about hybrids is that their fuel economy is reversed from the standard ICE. They get better milage in city driving than highway driving. Wonder why? Perhaps, they'll improve that in future models.
