Skipping from CBS to the higher-numbered news stations on my tv, I paused at Fox where I heard the reporter's analysis as follows [paraphrased]:
>>>Well, we don't really know who we hit today, but we were going for the higherups. If they were in one of four places it was a pretty good risk of odds to make the strike we did.<<<
OK, the above was pretty much in a "bravo, way to go" mentality in an effort to hype the missle attack. The only thing lacking in the report was logic, and that logic goes as follows:
OK, we were told of four places of possibility and we only aimed for the higher ups at one place. Duh! If the higherups could have been in one of four places, why not take out all four places and end the war early.
I'm now, as of this writing, hearing they were after one or more of Iraq's top five leaders.
Admittedly, however, if they did manage to take out Saddam in one bomb run, I'd have to call it a success and a most amazing victory. |
