It's another example of the big ego, or as one columnist put it, the "big I." Worse, this preemptive strike, no matter how well clothed it is as a "preventive" measure, gives a green light to terrorist forces in countries such as Egypt to destabilize a legitimate regime.
We may not like Castro, but we've learned not to send in expeditionary forces to change the regime. We don't send troops to Myanmar, which has more human rights abuses per capita than any other modern nation, and whose only lone figure opposing the government remains under house arrest, despite her having received the Nobel peace prize.
We don't send troops into China to correct the abuses of Tien An Mien Square, nor have we done ANYTHING to counter the worst current threat of all--North Korea. A government that would ignore North Korea in favor of an invasion of Iraq that can't even get support from the Iranians next door, who were attacked with poison gas is truly as out of control as the worst dictatorships in modern history.
