OM develops EcoSport catalytic converter
Brazil, Mar 18, 2003 (Gazeta Mercantil/SABI via COMTEX) -- The US (OMG) OM
Group, one of the leading in the world' vehicles catalytic converters market,
with 70% market share in the Brazilian market, started the production of its new
line in Brazil, specially developed to the EcoSport - new Ford car manufactured
in the Camacari-based unit (Bahia). OMG, which will be the exclusive supplier of
the 1.6 model will produce 2,000 units/month. After one year of researches and
investments of R$100,000 OMG developed the most advanced catalytic converter of
Brazil. The equipment is being produced in the Americana-based plant (Sao
Paulo), where the company invested US$10mil.
I thought it was bigtime news as this opens the gate with FORD and we already have a contract with Chevy and those small cars are what China/Korea/Japan/Europe use.
After one year of researches and
investments of R$100,000 OMG developed the most advanced catalytic converter of
Brazil.
In spite of a cashflow problem, bad earnings, etc...they completed the R&D project and are now in the production phase. Got to hand it to Mooney, this was a very important feather in his cap and he can name his price if he wants for a partner in this business. JMO.
