Ethopia is another nation with first hand experience of French appeasement of dictators. And yes, it is democratic. The biggest issue of freedom raised by the US State Department is freedom of the press, but perhaps they're just copying Schroder's recent behavior in Germany. In any case, it is many times more free and democratic than your favorite country - China.
