Regardless of Chirac's true motivation for disagreeing with Bush on Iraq (I know you believe his reasons are selfish and essentially due to his like of Saddam Hussein), it's interesting to note that our biggest ally in this attack, Great Britain, has the backing of a relatively small % of their citizens (was 15% not long ago). So the bulk of our biggest ally would have voted closer to Chirac than to Bush.

At any rate, now that we can't "support our troops by bringing them home", we do hope that things go smoothly for them.
