I would like to say, the French Government surrendered. Not the Military. France has always had one of the most gallant militaries. In fact, the military that managed to escape France came back to fight another day. I don't think their military deserves any discredit for that surrender. The Government did more than just surrender, there were many other acts done through their years of occupation. Not all the Government, but a good portion of it.
