China would use a ruthless surrogate, bin-Laden, to attack the United States…

The Chinese know that their only real block to superpower status is the United States. But would they risk outright war by launching such a risky strategy of backing a killer like bin-Laden? After all, the US is the golden goose that provides China with a trade surplus of about $100 billion a year.

Last year, China attracted more foreign investment than the US. In less than a decade, China may well be a serious economic threat to the US. So why take the risk of deploying a loose-cannon like bin-Laden?

Then one might speculate that the present crisis with North Korea is another attempt by China to create problems for the US. Given China's ties to Pakistan and the nuclear technology that North Korea allegedly obtained from Pakistan, it's more credible that China is using North Korea in its strategy to constrain the US.

China will no doubt challenge the US in a few years. In the meanwhile, it can bide its time as its economic and military power grows.
