I am not sure if this BBC article is only reporting on the events of last night that I posted - meeting with no agreement that lasted until 4 AM and hence no planes allowed last night and opening of air space "delayed". Turkey says talks continue with the US. It seems the issue being debated is indeed Turkish troops entering Northern Iraq.

If BBC is correct and the negotiations have completely failed, this is one of the more stunning blunders in the history of the region, and that is against some competition :-) Here was the perfect alignment of all elements in their favor, and they managed to come out of it with no benefits whatsoever, plus an increased likelihood for what they fear the most - establishment of a Kurdish state/country on their border.
