Unlike America, France and other countries lost the cream of their manhood in WW1 - all of these countries had a million casualties and more. You glibly attack the French surrender in the Second W. War from the comfort of your armchair in the safety of the present. The French were in no position to take on the German machine. There were many regrettable aspects of French behaviour in the war, particulaly the Vichy regime - but there were quislings everywhere waiting - look at the UK and the difficulties Churchill had with German sympathisers - including Halifax who was inclined to throw in the towel. Your black and white world leaves no room for understanding or perspective.
