Reading various reports in Turkish Daily over the past few days it appears to me that Turkey considers their moving troops into Northern Iraq as a quid pro quo for the US using Turkish air space, and the US is (understandably, in my opinion) adamantly against this. Turkey is in a bit of a bind -- there are long standing claims and dreams against Northern Iraq -- but Turkey also wants to remain on the good side of the US in the long run -- and quite frankly my own guess is that we aren't going to give Turkish troops the codes to protect them from our military so they'll come in at their peril. turkishpress.com
