Reading various reports in Turkish Daily over the past few days it appears to me that Turkey considers their moving troops into Northern Iraq as a quid pro quo for the US using Turkish air space, and the US is (understandably, in my opinion) adamantly against this. Turkey is in a bit of a bind -- there are long standing claims and dreams against Northern Iraq -- but Turkey also wants to remain on the good side of the US in the long run -- and quite frankly my own guess is that we aren't going to give Turkish troops the codes to protect them from our military so they'll come in at their peril.
