The combination of only US planes can go in to bomb Iraqi defenses while Turkey's ground forces move in from the north My understanding is that the US decided not to let Turkish troops enter Iraq, and so Turkey is delaying the permission they were about to give US for the use of its air space. Re Kurds - I don't see how Turks can prevent Kurds from moving back to what will be Kurdistan after the war, if that is their wish.
