Roger, the "bubble economy" in Japan went on for years with assets way over-valued. Who can tell how long this bull market will last? If we have an external shock such as an oil crisis, it could finish tomorrow (the fuel prices on your new cruiser would also be astronomical!)

There are so many novice investors in the US market. They're doing the right thing by investing in equities, I just hope that they have good international diversification. Without an external shock, the speculative element in this market could keep going at least to 10,000 on the Dow 30.

My humble advice to all US-based investors on this thread: remember that the US market is about 40% of the world market. Think about diversifying offshore. The returns may not be as good short-term, but it's a no-brainer for reducing the risk of your portfolio!
