Your point is reasonable and well taken.

My guess is that they were actually unaware of Saddam's status at the time of the recording which would therefore make it after the fact. Conceivably someone below command level may have made the decision.

The missing moles were mentioned by a Senator on the Intelligence Committee (as I recall) last night which seemed to confirm the allegation mentioned earlier on the internet.

Further his mistress said it was not Saddam -- reliable, who knows?
