Bush is not a moderate in any way, shape or form. Though he campaigned pretending he was going to be a bit of a moderate. The GOP moderates have been continually teed-off, ignored and backstabbed by Bush. This will be Bush's undoing when he's up against a very tough opponent like Kerry. When you alienate moderates you lose national elections. Kerry won't. Bush already has.

2004 may be a lot like Kennedy versus Nixon in 1962.
It will be very close but I give the edge to Kerry. They key is taking one major southern state from Bush's column. Kennedy also had a southern running mate, Johnson was then a conservative. Expect Kerry to pick someone of that type.
