Thanks...I read that from a different source a few days ago and still don't know what to make of it.

One theory I have heard is that Turkey is trying to prevent the return of Kurdish refugees to Iraq for now so as to perhaps maintain more favorable demographics when the future of Iraq is decided.

I don't think Iran has any ambitions in Iraq beyond seeing to it that structural changes inherently hostile to Iran are not put in place.
