Beastie Boys Record Anti-War Song
Fri Mar 21,11:06 AM ET

NEW YORK - Hip-hop group The Beastie Boys have recorded an anti-war song, "In A World Gone Mad."

Fans can download it for free from their Web site, www.beastieboys.com.

Group member Adam Horovitz says the song is not an anti-American or pro-Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) statement. He says it is a statement against what he considers an unjustified war.

The Beastie Boys are best known for their 1986 debut album "License to Ill," which included hits such as "Fight for Your Right to Party."

Other musicians who've come out with protest songs on their Web sites include John Mellencamp (news) and Yusaf Islam, the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens (news). One of Stevens' songs is a rerecording of his 1970s hit "Peace Train." The other, "Angel of War," reworks his melancholy love song "Lady D'Arbanville."
