I don't know about any of you folks here but this war stuff
is really taking its toll on my mind.

I watch the bombing on TV and hear Peter Arnett get almost
overwhealmed by the explosions. He explains how each bomb
disintergrates a building.

It's got to be terrifying.

Right now I'm sitting through a thunder storm and its
enough to frighten the dog and the kids.

I can't imagine what the children of Iraq are thinking now.

Then from that scene Tom Brokaw switches subjects to the
service men that were killed today. There was a grieving
father crying out to George Bush while showing a picture of
his son, asking Why?

Then it switched to a mother who lost her son. When the
segment was over, even Brokaw looked disturbed enough to
well up.

They come back from commercial and show me how the
republicans hustled through this tax cut without even
knowing what the cost of the war will be. With schools not
even able to give kids books or pay teachers. With a
deficit skyrocketting higher and faster than a Cruise
Missile being launched. This fuckin' president is going to
bankrupt the entire country.

So to get a break from TV, I come over to SI but find one
disturbing message after another from thread to thread.
Not this one or the Porch but just about everywhere else
that I read. There are so many heartless people around.
Finding joy in this war. Giving verbal high fives to each
other.

It sickens me. I'm ashamed to be on the same planet with
some of these freaks. Where is the humanity?

Can there really be this many closed mined people in this
country. And I realize that there are minds closing all
over the world right now. With the same sort of hatred
that these people express. Where are we going to turn?

I think I need a break from all this crap.

The lack of sleep certainly doesn't help much. I toss and
turn all night. I guess under normal circumstances I'd be
able to handle it better but right now the things that I
read and see on TV really have me down.

I suppose I'm just looking at the wrong stuff.
It's hard not to.

I guess I better just try to counter balance it by looking
at good stuff.
