It's pretty well known that the education level to which the mainstream media panders is that of the 6th grade. In the current environment the mainstream media is more centrally controlled than ever before so the narrow quality of information being proferred to the masses is also more widespread. This is why you see polls coming back saying 52% of the US population that has been asked believe that saddam is responsible for 9/11. If you factor out those who erroneously base their support for the invasion of Iraq on that belief then public support for the war...based on a properly informed public...would not be nearly what it is now.
