I'm close to the same place you are, but with one qualifier. Since the Bush folk clearly used the humanitarian arguments as only spin, not substance, I, like you, found their use not only unacceptable but downright offensive. However, I think you and I should have been able to still support the invasion had we seriously thought the Bush folk planned to address the humanitarian issues. That's where I get off. Given the US track record with friendly dictatorial regimes, given the Bush administration's failure seriously to address the humanitarian issues in Afghanistan, and given the prices they were willing to pay for the invasion, I had to reach a fairly difficult judgment call.
