I agree with you that mankind is self-determining. I believe in prophecy not because I believe God is determining the direction and outcome, but He is simply reporting the eventual outcome. Just because someone knows what is going to happen does not mean they caused it.

Where I disagree with you is the interpretation of what and who God is. I believe there is enough historical and life changing evidence to prove (at least to me) that Jesus Christ did exist, was put to death, and did rise from the dead. Because of that, I choose then to believe exactly what the Bible reports as the only way to get into an everlasting Heaven after this life is over. If I'm wrong, I treated my fellow man better because of it anyway. If you're wrong, you spend an eternity where you did not want to.

p.s. As far a Saddam is concerned, I find it very hard to believe that the USA could not have him "taken out" without going to war. I know the Israelis could do it if so motivated. It is more than ignorant to make an argument that "we don't assassinate" because it is wrong, but we will go to war "because it is moral." This simply tells me there is much more to the story.
