I find your reasoning very hard to understand. First, if you have read anything I have written for the past several years, you would know that I am as far from "the HillaryLib crowd" as one can get, so the reference is ridiculous. Second, your "Use them & die" reasoning makes no sense at all. What is the first objective of this "war"? What was the objective of the first unscheduled mission? Do you have any doubt that the number one priority is to kill Saddam? He can only die once. To say that he is not using WMD because he fears the threats of Bush is beyond silly. I am VERY conservative, but you sound brainwashed.
"But, it is beyond MORONIC to suggest that if we don't suffer another domestic tragedy; that Saddam is innocent..." -- you need to read a little more carefully and not let your politics interfere with your processing of information. Once again, you sound brainwashed. What I suggested was, if this war completes, and Iraq uses no WMD or attempts any terrorist activity in the USA, for me, it would mean Iraq was not capable of doing either, or never intended to do either. To have some banned substance, but not be able to deliver it outside your own country, or to have a Scud missile that is not capable of doing any damage is not really a world threat, is it? It may be a threat to one's own people, but to imply that Saddam has the power to cripple the USA is a little exaggerated for effect to perhaps achieve other objectives.
The "war" is not over yet. Perhaps Saddam will be shown to be that ultimate threat still. If he does not, it does not lessen that he is scum and should die, but IMO, it does remove credibility from the excuses the American people have been spoon fed for the past few months.
One more thing -- if the primary motive was to remove Saddam, don't you feel that the USA or certainly Israel could have him assassinated? To say "we don't assassinate" because it is wrong, but we go to war because "it is the moral thing to do" doesn't hold much water.
I'm all for removing a scum bag like Saddam. I'm even all for taking the oil. But let's be grownup about what is said and not assume that everyone is an idiot.
Last thing -- we're all clear on your opinion that Gold investors (not traders) are morons, but I'd like to hear your opinion of the general stock markets and the problems with the economy, debt, etc. Do you believe that the Iraqi situation clears up all problems if resolved? Do you believe that the markets should be higher than they are now? Do you believe that PE ratios are irrelevant? Do you relate to Kudlow and Cramer in a positive way?
I remain,
